    Crazy little thing called love.
I'm trying to determine at exactly what point in time Modern music lost it's character.
    In the meantime, please enjoy some of my favorite images from last week. Juldmgte.jpg Jul2Sunrise.jpg Jul4CrescentMoon.jpg Solar Halo.jpg Jul7LD4.jpg July8LD5IG.jpg JulyAltai.jpg Strn,Jptr.jpg SneakyBastard.jpg ValenciaSeamstress.jpg

Modern Music lost its character when you got old. No doubt Mozart's parents had the same lament about his playing.

Thanks for the images. I was wondering how the Milky Way photographed there.

Just need to get away from lights (which is easier said than done here)!
That image was taken on a transparent night, which is not all that common in this humid jungle environment. But the skies are usually steady, so if you're into high magnification viewing of the Moon, planets and double-stars, it's great. That high power image of the moon is a single 1/30s exposure at 150X. I could not have done that in the transparent Arizona skies without stacking multiple images (because of atmospheric distortion). But i got some great Milky Way photos there!

I'm not immune to the old man syndrome. I thought I would be the cool guy who liked the same music as college kids, but instead I'm saying "That's just noises, not music, and do they really think those are lyrics?"

I only shoot the sky occasionally and usually with a wide angle camera lens, so maybe you told me a little bit of bad news, not good news anyways. I just got back from a trip to AZ, where I'm from originally, and UT. The night skies were beautiful but I forgot my jacket and it was too cold to stand around taking pictures at 2 A.M., it was a cold spring there this year.

It's not all that bleak. You may be familiar with the Bortle scale, which rates light pollution from 1-9, with 1 being the darkest sky (9 would be Piscataway, N.J.).
The center of Dumaguete is Class 5. Valencia is Class 4. You only need go as far as Dauin and Zamboanguita to get Class2 skies.
If you lived in Phoenix, you would have to get outside the circle formed by Black Canyon City, Apache Junction, Casa Grande and Palo Verde to get Class 5 skies! But at least the drive would be very pleasant  (speaking of which, Lake Pleasant is now Class 6! 40 years ago it would have been a Class 2).
