Robinson's mall is a ghostown

No it isn't. Online stores like Amazon killed the mall in the West. "Taxes, regulations, fees, rules law and so on" had nothing or very little to do with it. People are lazy, why leave your house and go the store (or maybe 5+of them if the item you are looking for is hard to find) to go buy something when you can just open a tab on your browser and get exactly what you want and have it delivered right to your doorstep the next day? The internet and artificial intelligence (learning from how you shop and giving your recommendations based off of your habits and interests) destroyed small business at the mall.

Also, malls are a fairly new invention. It's not like they have been around since the invention of commerce and didn't come with their own drawbacks and criticism. I wonder if people in the 50s, 60s, 70s or 80s (or whenever the malls/strip malls were popularized) blamed the government for killing "downtown" when malls became popular. (I don't actually wonder, I know if there is something to complain about, people are complaining about it.) Another example of history repeating itself.

I wonder how much crap the guy who figured out his market stall could be put on wheels and moved to where the customers were took. It must have seemed like the end of the universe for the old farts that couldn't stand to see anything but a stationary stall.

It's just the natural progression of commerce that has been happening since commerce became a thing. Old ideas are replaced with new more efficient ideas. If mom and pop can't compete...well, p*ss on mom and pop, they don't deserve to be in business. Capitalism, that is how it be.

 

It makes you wonder if they have found some serious probs with the foundations in robinsons mall and its being kept quiet for the time being. Im sure a few will remember the 2 yr pause due to foundation probs and have seen the subsidence at the back along with popped tiles everywhere. Maybe they will tear it down and re build it.
