Got the bike yesterday....They gave me two helmets used for white water rafting! Only in the Philippines...
By law the helmet should be ICC approved and have the sticker on the back of the helmet. I'm not sure if they check that too...
Authority has been quoted recently saying that legal validity of helmets is not currently being checked, but will be in due course.
So for the time being, as the saying goes, the quality of your helmet need only correlate to the value of your head.
I saw 800 peso helmets with the ICC sticker on them, brand new in the store.. I wouldn't wear one if I was worried about a mango dropping on my head, definitely would not trust one walking thru a coconut plantation.. LOL
I might have missed it, what does ICC stand for? I searched for ICC Philippines but was greeted with the International Criminal Court.
Counterfeit sticker? Seems to me that a weak point is the clasp. I search for a metal (rather than plastic) clasp. Sporting Goods section of Hypermart.
So they have a scale of fines, will it be enforced and be an effective deterrent to address the outright dangerous driving habits? Which are in my experience on 2 and 4 wheels, is not solely attributed to Filipinos....
