Just curious as I see a some Aussies on the forum. Was wondering if any Kiwis have decided to put down roots, either retirement or work.

    Another here.

I know of a couple of others including Dean who runs the hardware shop in Valencia next to the Total gas station.

We were living there until the Australian Gov. decided to class us as residents of the Philippines and thus no longer eligible for the age pension or superannuation. We both have a combined Aussie/NZ pension as we spent our working lives in both places. We had two years before the Aust. bastards decided to change the rules to allow a pen pusher in Tasmania to power to decree us no longer residents of either country.

that's rough. so no longer there?

i'm planning on doing the dual citizenship and semi-retire thing there, most likely in Valencia in the next few years.

I think by Dual Citizenship he means Residency. Becoming a citizen of the Philippines is almost impossible.

nope, dual citizenship. i was born in nz but my parents were still filipino citizens by birth so apparently I'm considered as re-acquiring citizenship.

problem is, they didn't register my birth with the philippine embassy in nz, but we're not sure if there was one here back in the 70s. now we're working on the registration of birth paperwork which is marriage certs, birth certs, philippine passports etc all from the 70s.

so once the documentation requirements are fulfilled, the embassy says i can just apply for my philippine passport and that's it

Yup that makes sense. Didn't realise you were of Philippine parents. Once you get your filipina status and registered dual, you will be able to buy up to 1000 sq mts of property as well.
