It is about voyeurism and lack of respect, which becomes unfortunately more and more a constant part of life in these days.

From my point of view it has nothing to do with different cultures or backgrounds. It's just due to the fact that everybody ens a smartphone and wants to gain clicks on Facebook or elsewhere.

Of course dead is a part of life. That doesn't include that standards and moral levels seems to disappear.

You have great empathy, can I ask you, is it okay to you, that your close relatives like kids, wife, etc. would be exposed to public media showing their pics after a traffic accident or violent assault here where they are badly injured? You just don't look at the pics or it not affect you at all?

Part of the cultural difference may just be the fact that there's a lot more familiarity with and acceptance of death here. It's just the nature of life in the Philippines, more unpredictable and dangerous than in many Western countries. And I'm not talking about crime as much as things like accidents, disease, etc.
For example, I witnessed little kids playing near their lola's casket at her wake, which was held in her living room. And she was there for a week! Didn't bother them a bit, they have seen it before. But in the US my grandkids would be freaking out!

With out question it will always have some cause and effect on a person at some level to extreme anger to opening a court case or a shrug or 2 at least. Its just that in this fast growing world of gadgetry and the reckless (too often) use of such brings us to a point where (The expectation of privacy is not what it use to be) Case in point - The World loved the final Gaddafi images and even the Lady Dianna had coroner pics leaked. No one is immune in this new age. The bar is always getting raised as in the photographs of WWI, WWII which I highly doubt had any link to Voyeurism. The expectation of privacy may actually be totally lost if laws do not keep up with Man kinds ignorance which is lately moving like a speeding bullet.

I imagine others here have had the same following experience. I went to a friend’s (former DI Forum member) burial 9 years ago and at the end of the beautiful ceremony the wife goes up to the casket and screams and cries as loud as she can. I was quite taken back but my wife told me it is common here. I told her to do it at mine, let me rest in peace.

"It is disgusting how Filipinos "post" pics of the dead. It must be an Asian flaw."

I am confused. Which is it? A. Looking B. Criticizing C: Posting D. All of the Above

Some funerals can be a little strange. At the end of one service they took pictures. Immediate family, extend family, business associates and friends.
My wife has strict instructions the there must be lots of cold beer and potato chips at my wake.
