Hi. My group of friends are planning to visit Dumaguete this year. Can you guys recommend a bar/club with an LGBTQ vibe? It doesn't have to be a party place, just a chill and welcoming place for us.

Nobody really cares in the Philippines. Go be yourself wherever you want.

Members of LGBTQ in Dumaguete just blend in with the rest. They do not actually segregate themselves, as in have a special place only for themselves. When they go have fun at the bars they usually go with normal or straight friends. Favorite places of hangout or fun are at TIKI bar, WHY NOT disco bar, and others that I do not know much about. Oh--I think Cafe Racer has fun nights after dinner, too. Just check them out yourself, it is so easy to navigate Dumaguete because it is small and simple.

Nobody cares at all. On Siquijor they even have a beauty contest for ladyboys and it is well attended by the whole community. Just come and have fun, unsegregated.

I've read all the comments and agree. I would say that those who are LGBTQ are tolerated, perhaps even accepted. Dumaguete had its first Gay Pride last year. Forgot when. It was at a time when I was back in the UK. My advice would be that it is best not to be too flamboyant, although I could be quite wrong about that. Being gay here is fine. But the Philippines, being mainly Catholic, is a conservative country. Things are beginning to change. It is however very unlikely there will be same sex marriage for some time to come. Just to give you an idea of what it's like here.
