I wonder if the message, "normal operations", implies all the services they used to provide will once again be available?
Glad to hear this, and hope "all" the previous services are available. I used the Consulate on Sept 19 to get three of my documents "notarized" for my SRRV. Consulate is at Waterfront Hotel. Easiest is into the lobby, down the stairs out the side door, left 50m and thru the small locked door. Note the hours, might be easier to call about range of services before you go. Used a "fixer" to get my docs "authenticated" by the DFA in Manila, best $15 ever spent. DFA Cebu WILL NOT do that, waste of a taxi ride. SRRV application started last week (PNB was the biggest slowdown).
Getting ready to use the notarial services at this Consular Agency in Cebu. Any hints? Is it pandemonium, controlled chaos or well organized? They only have hours on some mornings....if I get there first thing, will I be finished that day, or should I plan for a second night in Cebu? Is the Waterfront Hotel, where it is located, a decent place to stay?
Can't comment on the consulate, been almost 4 yrs since I did my SRRV thingy, but it was BIG organized then. Waterfront is big, not sure of rates. My fav (BIG cheapskate here) is the Adelpha hotel, two blocks from Osmena circle and the old Chung Hua, spotless, limited goodies, no restaurant, just snack bar, no armed guard, but $20 USD a night, pretty far from waterfront hotel, but I used cabs and friend swears by Grab. I swear by Grab also, best thing to happen in Cebu in years... Know your driver, car and cost before you get in car. With a set price they will endeavor to get you there the quickest way possible ...
Sorry to hijack the "Cebu" thingy, and maybe I'm paranoid, but I try to give the driver a 10% tip in cash. Grab is already taking 20% of the fee, which is distance based, so yes, they have the incentive to get there as fast as possible.
