It sounds like a confused account of the Chinese woman who stayed in Manhattan Suites near Robinson’s and also stayed at a resort in Dauin. The woman was sent to Manila for treatment and confirmation of the virus and the employees of the hotels were the people under house arrest for quarantine purposes only. Nobody has yet reported a woman who was under arrest in her hotel room (to my knowledge) but without sources...it needlessly adds to the confusion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Maybe because people here are poor and have crap health care systems in place? To get proper medical care here is expensive so excuse them for not wanting to land in a hospital and would rather panic-buy face masks as a precaution for themselves and their loved ones. In this country, getting sick is a big deal and often beggars a family.
SO FAR, I have seen NO NEWER INFO than: INCUBATION PERIOD is up to 14 days Since it may be contagious PRIOR to symptoms, the ONLY way of stopping the pandemic is to quarantine (or self quarantine) for 14 days. This is the way they stopped the SARS and MERS, by stopping continued transmission. Has anyone seen any OFFICIAL info (please no filipino neighbor gossip) on the status of the people at the Dumaguete hotel and the Dauin resort who were exposed on Jan 23-24th (11 days ago). There MUST be some news by now, even "no symptoms" ?? Is there an official website ??
As with most things here, as you must well know, they are not updated regularly. Try Provincial Government sites like Negor,gov.ph, DOH etc. Google them, you may strike lucky or not.
My understanding about quarantining doesn’t mean you have to provide them a dedicated place to stay. Wherever they plan on staying is fine(apartment, home, hotel) as long as they understand and obey not to roam from there for 14 hours days.
That is true if the person lives alone. If there are other people living in the house they should also stay home (IMHO).
My Wifes Employer from 13 months ago (whom my wife retired from) went down to USA 2 weeks ago, now confirmed Covid19 along with her Son whoms a Doctor and his Wife whom is 4 months pregnant. They are like extended Family to us both. Clearly this can hit anyone anytime.
