I have seen some in FB who will take initiative to make a group to help old expats over 65 who can't go out. Frankly, I don't think the problem exists, very few single guys here lol and the few I know are under 65 and has chosen to be single. I know one expat who can go out because of an accident but he has live in housemate/helper and friends who will be there for him.. I don't say the problem doesn't exist but I can't imagine anyone with no friends or neighbors who are willing to help. On the other side, I know many Filipino who lost their job and face hard times to feed their family, some barangay give help to poor families, I know they do in Dauin but other places don't. We can all give a few kilo of rice and maybe some canned goods to our poor neighbor if we have some. Only give if you feel for it, no pressure it's up to the individual to decide if they want to give a little help to the people who are in need for it

Kind of exhausting watching all these power grabs play out. Anyway...

On the pressing issue of a 24-hour curfew for students and senior citizens, the Governor would like to inform the public that he is adopting the guidelines set forth by the Office of the Presidential Assistant for the Visayas (OPAV), effective immediately in the entire Province of Negros Oriental. This is in addition to the curfew provisions stipulated under Executive Order No. 21-A, Series of 2020.

This is also to categorically deny what has been running through in social media and mainstream media that the Provincial Government does not implement the Advisory of OPAV. It was a misquote. What the Governor said in his Official Personal FB Page is that "it cannot be implemented without an EO from the Local Chief Executive of every LGU", considering that same Advisory is not self-implementing.

While some sectors would like to use this situation to advance their political agenda, the Governor is now strongly adopting the Guidelines through an Executive Order, with specific clarifications. Copies of which will be disseminated tomorrow during the Inter-Agency Task Force meeting.

Enforcers are out in force downtown looking for old people breaking quarantine and taking them to the police station.

There's a group of enforcers going around, there's one near mercury drug at the market and there's one in perdices st. They will ask for an ID if you look like a senior citizen, and if you are, they will invite you to the police station so you can explain in writing why you went out of your house since it was announced that seniors are supposed to be on home quarantine.

If you need something from downtown send someone and don't go yourself if you are 65+.

My church, Victory Dumaguete has assigned personnel to help you if you live alone or have no one to help.

In light of the government’s memorandum imposing curfews on senior citizens, we would like to extend assistance to the elderly in our church community. We’re ready to help and assist you in ways that we can. We have designated personnel who can run errands like pick groceries or medicines for you. We’re extending the same assistance to all of our solo parents and those doing solo parenting.

Here are the numbers you can text or call:
    0929 597 1700
    0927 231 5937

Well, since both members in my household are over 65 and we currently have no one under 65 here to get food, medicine, pay electric bills, pay water and cable, (get beer), I guess I will have to take the chance. I will go out on short trips IF necessary because the cure starts to get worse than the disease. It is good they are doing this to expose how un-thought out this decree was made. And at Mercury drug where seniors must go to procure needed medications. Hope it hits the news. If wife cannot get diabetic medicine, I don’t care if they kick us out. In metro Manila they give a provision that one person in the household even if elderly can leave once a day to get needed supplies; I don’t see any young persons in this barangay coming to our gate offering their services to do this for money but if there were I would gladly hire them. So we will see what happens when I get “caught”. :Idk.

I needed to clarify this nonsence so went chief pnp and explained the situation about foreigners who were single and living alone here.
His words were it will be enforced on a case by case situation. If you want to go out to eat, grocery, meds etc is fine as long as you explain this to the cops when you get stopped. Ofcourse there is the 9pm till 5am curfew for everyone and as we know in alot of places not enforced. I did ask about it and was told the people who take no notice are just hard headed lol

That sounds reasonable, better if it were documented but I will not complain. 99.99% of the time we are home...and that is the way it should be.

Are they going to make an "official public statement" to explain this?
