    Interesting. Pako salad is my default starter at Kri :smile:

    they are in the lucky situation that they can go out into nature and find something to eat. though pesticides may be a real problem with the snails.

    Insects are the future of food. Extremely nutritional, virtually fat free, high in protein, use small areas of land to farm, use little water, produce minimal greenhouse gases. And many are actually rather tasty!

    I reckon in 50 years time those of us that are still here will be feasting on them daily......

    Maybe here, in the Philippines, insects will be more commonly used as staple food. But for most western countries (and their expats), I think most would rather just go vegetarian than eat grubs. Ever.

    The fact that weed salad has a spicy taste and the ants taste like lime does not a silver lining make. It's a very sad commentary.

    You might be surprised. Many supermarkets in Europe are now selling insects. I remember about 15 years ago buying bags of giant roasted ants and deep fried worms in Selfridges, no less. They were both delicious :smile:
