PhilPost put out an explanation yesterday as to why we have not received any mail. Everything hinges on when the airlines start flying again. Since international flights to Manila were shutdown the U.S. Postal Service has been holding Priority mail and returning it to sender. Our domestic airlines want to start carrying passengers May 16th depending on government approval which will also affect PhilPost. This the latest from PhilPost: Philippines 5-4-20 Philippines’ post advises that the government has extended until May 15 community quarantines in Metro Manila and the rest of the Luzon islands and in areas of the Visayas and Mindanao islands. The post is providing limited services in order to deliver checks, medical supplies and other essential services. The international mail processing centers are operating with limited staff. Incoming items will only be processed and forwarded to delivery post offices once the community quarantine in Metro Manila is lifted and/or an exemption granted to the post is extended. Outbound international dispatches remain suspended until similar conditions are met. Customers are encouraged to use email for service concerns. Inquiries relating to international postal accounts and/or settlement should be sent by email, with scanned copies of relevant documents, to iadiv.srd@phlpost.gov.ph, iadiv.srd.phlpost@gmail.com, srd@phlpost.gov.ph and srd.phlpost@gmail.com. It looks like Lazada and Shopee were not expecting the quarantine to last much longer when they announced they were shipping again. Looking at their items today they are showing shipping dates over 30 days even for those items in stock. shakey aka John
i wonder about lazada shipments, apparently the delay is because the carriers are locked down but i got two delivery notices recently, both with ninja. item #1 25 april - purchased 4 may - shipping notice 8/18 may - expected delivery item #2 25 april - purchased 29 april - shipping notice 08/18 May - expected delivery old; must be stalled in a cargo vehicle. item #3 - 11 march - purchased 17 march - shipping notice 19/21 mar - expected delivery (also ninja)
I stupidly ordered something from Lazada during ECQ. Then on May 1 the seller from Manila informed me my package had been shipped. I just received it yesterday morning. Make of that what you will.
NinjaVan has been delivering my orders. I have orders being handled by Entrego and BlackArrow that have been in limbo for a long while.
My daughter received two packages from Shopee last week shipped by J&T Express. All I could figure is maybe it came by the same ferry that brought the stranded OFWs. My new debit card sent Priority Mail by my bank March 12 didn't make it to Manila because the airlines shut down. Thanks to you guys introducing me to TransferWise, I haven't suffered lack of money. Now if the orange evil one would deposit my $1200 I would be in great shape to continue "panic buying"! shakey aka John
ahhh..... this is even more encouraging, looks like things are starting to move. i've got two other lazada items that were ordered on 18 march and have ninja tracking numbers but don't appear to have moved this direction; both would be considered ''essential'' items. two other orders were canceled due to ''system errors.'' it'll probably take some time to get all delayed shipments sorted out. t'would be nice if the tracking app showed the complete handling history... guess this is why San Miguel makes rhum...
