I should imagine after all this virus crap has gone if it ever does all the money will be gone and will never be built for a long time.

Actually this would be a good project to stimulate the economy and help in the recovery. Sadly they will probably borrow money from China to build it. That money will come with strings.

That's good. It probably has some accountability built in to the agreement.

If there is any accountability built into the agreement it will never happen.. Things only happen here for three reasons #1 Money, #2 Votes, Combination of #1 and #2.

So it will fall under #1 then. Do not abide by the accountability do not get the #1 money. This is how accountability happens.

When an outside entity commits to funding they do not turn over all of the money at once. There are commitments that need to be met by the receiver of the money in order to get the money in installments.

And we also need to remember the old nitrate factory which was torn down so they could relocate the fuel depot closer to the new airport for petrol and av gas. San miguel bought this a few yrs back.

So apparently the airport project is back on? Our family there in Bocong have said the government is approaching people to buy out their land for the airport project. One of my wife's cousin's is one of these people. They are also stating landing will come from the Dumaguete side and take offs will be toward Dauin. Not quite sure if I should be happy or not. On one hand it would make travel easier, but the entrance to the airport is only a couple kilometers from our house. Noise vs convenience.

I thought with current and potential financial issues in the economy, these schemes would be delayed.

To give you an honest opinion on the distance issue: I would prefer to live 10 km away and drive to the airport once every few days/weeks/months/years than to live closer and save that (very) occasional journey but have a noise issue daily - on the positive side, aircraft are getting quieter. In fact, the next biggest thing is electric aircraft - but I am worried they will forget to top up the meter.
