That is still showing that it is very rare for younger people to get severely ill and die. As for the ICU visit; I've been in the ICU a few times in the states, the majority of people are calmly waiting in the waiting room with non-critical non-deadly non-emergency illnesses or injuries. ICU visits mean nothing without knowing the severity of the cases or knowing if an ICU visit was actually warranted, especially in the US where it is common for ICUs to be flooded by patients with non-intensive needs due to a lack of proper health insurance.

None of the previous strains of corona-type virus created widespread damage in the body, H1N1 didn't do that, SARS didn't do that ... they were strictly respiratory infections. It was expected that covid19 would behave similarly, and so it WAS a surprise to the medical community to discover the far reaching damage from this virus which is not like anything that was encountered before from a supposed respiratory virus. I'm surprised you're surprised because you didn't know that.

Nobody is trying to instill fear into people, that is just your particular perspective which is pretty clear. Quite the contrary, they want people to be informed and to be aware so that they will NOT be acting out of fear, but rather be motivated by knowledge and make informed intelligent decisions.

You still seem to think that if you didn't actually "die", then you're just fine. Large percentages of recovered cases develop neurological problems, have greatly increased risk of stroke, and/or have permanent lung scarring and reduced lung efficiency. Even a large percentage people who tested positive but were totally asymptomatic have been found to later develop these other issues.

Please note that when I post nothing but " source" I'm not asking that in a negative or sarcastic tone, I'm asking so that I can see the actual data and context of the information stated.

No, I think you are confusing ICU with the emergency room... quite different

Oh boy. I don't have much to say to that. I do hope your risk aversion keeps you safe and healthy, but if you or people you live with exit your dwelling and enter public spaces, NOTHING you can do will ensure that you cannot be infected, assuming you do not wish to buy and wear a biochem suit.

Frankly, I see all of the people in charge saying they want to follow the science and the data. I see quite the opposite. I see them following fear.

The policies are COVID March 2020, not COVID June 2020.
