If anyone enters another person's property without authority, it is very likely they intend to cause harm. The occupier has every right, IMO, to take effective preventative action and not wait to see what occurs (when it might be too late). Allow me a shotgun and I would paint my walls with anyone who tried to act against my home, without clarifying first if it only my money or if it is my life they seek.
I have heard, although never been to, that Danao in Cebu is the gun capital of the Philippines. If you want it made, they can do it.
When I lived in the US I had a 9mm, in the military I was an expert marksman, and kept up at the range. I always said that one of the scariest sounds and intruder, who does not know their way around your home like you do, is the sliding of the bolt to chamber a round. It tells them you are armed and know they are in there.
I've been told if you let off a warning shot the thieves will leave post haste. They want to steal your stuff, not get in a gunfight.
This is, quite possibly, the best thing you've ever posted, in a long line of wonderful posts, IMO. I can agree with this 100%. I do find it interesting to note that you disagree with a buglar taking your property, but are fine with laws being made that will much more surely affect the livelihood of our younger generation. Truly, to each their own.
A friend of mine, PNP, told me that if I fired and hit an intruder, to let off another one so anyone who heard the shooting would report two shots, and I could tell the police when they arrived that I had fired a warning shot first. Never put it into practice though. Got done twice and they were away over the fence before I could get outside to give them one. They move very quick when they are disturbed.
Don't worry, we are not allowed to have firearms over here, and I seriously doubt you would put us into such a situation.
