    I did not read that sign yet as I was driving past the place when they started moving out stuffs. That was all I saw as I was driving by.

    Side note: It really irks me that Canadians created and popularized that monstrosity and then had the nerve to blame it on Hawaii.

    I'm not sure what the reference to Canada was but here is the reported history......

    The History of Pineapple

    Its origin
    Historians believe that the pineapple originated in Brazil in South America. It was imported to Europe later. It is also believed that Christopher Columbus and his crew members were probably the first few people from the European continent to have tasted the fruit.

    They imported the fruit and cultivated it in hot houses. Members of European royal families soon developed a liking for it. It gradually became available to the rich, the noble and the elite.

    James Dole did a lot to popularize the fruit and make it affordable with his pineapple
    plantations in Hawaii, his goal was to have the convenient canned pineapple in every
    grocery store in the country.

    That would make sense given that the pineapple is not native to Canada. So not knowing the proper use of the food, they decided to use the foreign species as a condiment on pizza, alongside such unrelated toppings as sausage and pepperoni. It was a tragic error but nobody is perfect, eh?

    I agree with Wrye. Pineapple on pizza is our national shame.
    However we will take credit for inventing Insulin, Ice Hockey, the Telephone. Did I ever mention that we also burned their White House in 1812.
