This reply is a repeat of an earlier reply WHICH WAS DELETED. It will not be exact as I do not keep copies of my postings, but it will be in essence very similar:

The issue of what is "interesting" is personal and what one person likes, another will not. If I find a post I am not interested in then I just don't read it. Are we just to write what certain people find of interest?

Edit: This was not on my original post: I did not originally give a trollin' rating as I felt a comment in reply was sufficient BUT when that fair and reasonable comment was deleted I went back to award the rating I felt the comment deserved - it was obvious who the comment referred to and it stated that those members of this Forum write "drivel" (personal opinion) and "have nowt better to do" without knowing what they do.

It would be interesting if ALL members can be allowed to delete posts they think are critical of themselves (personal) - the Forum would be half empty and there would be an end to FREE SPEECH.

I do not understand why my reply to this comment was first DELETED and then when I repeated it, was swiftly moved to off-topic.

    Is this comment ON TOPIC?

So commenting on a trollin' post by a moderator leads to the post being DELETED and then, when repeated (for reasons of free speech). being SWIFTLY moved to off topic! The original trollin' post is in no way on-topic but remains!

Two different moderating styles. I prefer to not delete posts...but they have every right to be deleted. Other forums take a much harder stance on off topic posts, issuing warning points and bans to habitual offenders. I think it best not to push back too hard on this issue as I really prefer not to go that route and I couldn't fault any moderator or admin for deciding to go that route. Try to stay on topic and avoid the tangents when possible, it isn't that big of an ask.

I know your style is not to delete but to reply, rate or ignore. That is fine.

I am not sure why you wrote that posts have "every right to be deleted" - surely that must depend on the post. In my case my post was no more off topic than the moderator @DavyL200, who may have chosen to delete my post in reply to his - I cannot apportion blame as yet as no-one is telling me who deleted them. The moderator's post was writing about "drivel" and "people having nowt better to do" on a thread about relocation! On topic??? Really!

"I think it best not to push back too hard on this issue" is really a not too subtle warning to me not to say anything about having posts unfairly deleted but to just shut up. But I am not the man to kowtow when I am being treated unfairly. So delete me if you wish, but others here will understand why. Then I join the list of those who either were deleted (we do not know) or those who gave up, for various reasons.

Being a moderator has responsibilities of fairness and the ability to look at things from a moderator's perspective and not take things personally - if people are told to accept everything and just shut up then it seems we are being treated as children.

Rather than being warned or banned, I should receive an apology.

I'm trying to be diplomatic here. I really don't know what the issue is or what posts were deleted. I have sent you a PM with what I know and my thoughts on it. I thought I was being fair and transparent with you. Perhaps you should try messaging DavyL to sort whatever this problem is.

I don't want to involve you in this as you were not the cause of my dissatisfaction. I asked you first if you knew anything about my deleted posts, as I regard you as the Senior Moderator, but already had a very strong view of who deleted them - and why!

You were kind enough to answer me.

I have approached the moderator @DavyL200 but his response appears to be rather mocking. I can't control how people with power behave - I can only observe and comment. So I give up on that one.

I lost my desire to post when I get a post deleted. A member here (No reason to put his name here, it's not about the person) called another member a dickhead, maybe right, maybe wrong, I don't know, but I know name-calling is a reason to get banned. I reply in post other was "punished" for less than that, my post deleted and the thread moved to of topic. Different rules for different people, I don't buy that one. Another member in this site told me his post was deleted, so is that common?

No, it is not. There is a moderator log that administrators can see. The vast majority of deleted posts are double posts. If you like I can look at this log and see what posts of yours have been deleted. I did have a quick look at it this morning and didn't see anything unusual.

Sure I would like that, it was Andyflip who called another a dickhead, then I post others are "punished" for less, my post deleted and the thread moved to of topic. Honestly, if not this with Notmyrealname came up, I was not spending time on this. I find this site good in many ways, I gain a lot of info from all around, food, restaurants, doctors/dentist, car parts, places to visit, and much more. I will do the same in this site as I do in real life, if I find people annoying, I move my @ss to another place. I enjoy living here in the Philippines, and will not let me get disturbed by that kind of bagatelles, have a nice and sunny day everyone
