To my quarantine partner I say, this coming Sunday another Walay Kuryente, where shall we go? Last time we went to Dauin. No matter that there's no power down there, we reserve a table outside, at the far corner of the pool. Calling the for a reservation they pretend to remember me, though it's going on two years that I was last at Mike's Dive Resort. To briefly review, it's okay. Mike still owns it but is no longer in residence and managing. The staff is fine, the pool is chlorinated. There's a sticker shock at the end to learn that the entrance fee is no longer consumable; the restaurant bill is added.

So I say, this Sunday we will rent an airplane and fly to Manila. If the politicians can do it, why can't we? Get a few friends to share expenses. Hit the high street at the Fort, high-end restaurants and luxury shopping, no way to spend that kind of money in Dumaguete, even it we dared. Then return and visit your family, spread infection all round, visit the yoga resort (ha ha) in Dauin, let the governor opine that we're probably not in violation of any law. So she laughts and says she'd love to go to Manila.

Someone replied that they used to happen weekly. I have been here since 2006 and that simply is not true. And during the last few years here, say 5 or more, the NGCP has done this about once every 3 or 4 months, if that much. And when we got hit, the other half of the Province got hit the next time. Not so now.

Not telling tales, but it was Mr Rye said that! But that was during the time he had a fetish for wearing a hood on Sundays.

You should have been here before the power plant was built in Valencia..Even for probably 10 yrs after you had turn on florescent lights before 5 PM. or they would just flicker.. Brown outs daily for an hour or so sometimes 2 or 3 times a day.. When the power went out you scrambled to get everything in the house unplugged because when it came back there was a voltage spike over 300 volts often times and frequency all over the place.. How many fridges, TV's, Guetto Blasters. To many to remember..

Yes, I have been coming to the Philippines since the mid 70's, this has always been a problem locally. My post deals directly with the NGCP and these 3 brown outs in as many months. That is just completely out of the norm now, more to this than meets the eye I would say.

You would think with all of the local lockdowns that pushing people out of their homes to beaches and resorts (and Robinsons Mall) would be the last thing local government would want to do.... but protesting to NGC is too much trouble I guess.... sigh

Unless you are Inglesia Ni Cristo. They successfully had one delayed...to put on a mass gathering.

Edit: the brown out was just cancelled to prevent the spread of the virus.
