Any Sailors here?

Hi kiwi sailor here without a boat. Is there anyone sailing here needing a hand for crew, maintenance, rigging or repairs.
I have alot of experience of most sail boat issues and willing to lend a hand.

I have been sailing all my life first in a Orkney Island built gaffer and have a classic Ross 930 in kiwi land waiting for a return of her captain when Covid subsides.

Maybe take a trip down to Tambobo Bay, near Siaton, and talk to some of the guys down there. Lots of boats there.

I’ve fannied about on boats for years. I can tie a bowline knot and do the basics. My eldest is a UK certified Yachtmaster, streets ahead of me. He’s also got French-Polynesian licensing thing going on that I don’t really understand. It allows him to sail by the southern stars between islands etc. Pm anytime, but don’t ask me to ship away sa Carribean on a Rum smuggling to the Cebu strait job. I get scurvy easy. I sing a mean shanty however. The eldest is a far better character than me and will be a worthy addition. Cornish Pirate accents n shipping superstitions extra as part of the deal. P200 per “avast there!” if you drag us along.

Boy just volunteered. Sure I could sell him to ya. He’s ashore atm due to Covid but was employed as a Skipper on a gin palace out of Pittwater Aus to Bora Bora n surrounds. He’s got sweet fa to do.

I‘m still wary of the Press, it’s a born near to Plymouth/Falmouth thing and am sure you’ll understand. Never saw my brother after June 14th 1765. But the boy would be your lad. Please make a mench to Nigel. CV on demand. Doing the Dad thing here.

A Cornish man can mention THAT word!

 

Aye, shame on me, but we have an enclave there called “Brettonside”. There the streets are paved, and pretty wenches can ply their trade without a whim. The Minerva serves fresh ales and “Trelawney” is roared oft. Saswsnekken are welcome provided they don’t demand with their daft ways. A boulder skip away is Stonehouse. Man, there the press lies. Ye will wake up in the 90s, roaring or not. d*mn them. Sees yus in Brettonsyde my lamb, y’ll have a gag.

 

I had a 19' sailboat 50 yrs ago, since then only sailed on friends' (not in two decades tho). Remember a boat is a hole in the ocean into which one pours money, and "....as my grand-daddy usta say, "If'n it flys, floats, or f**ks, rent it, don't buy it.." <grin>

 

Ensuring, as usual and in spite of rumours (mostly rumors) to the contrary, I stay well within the limits of being on-topic (at least a metre each way), I read this "Outside on Exeter Street, a new crossing has been installed to link Bretonside with Drake Circus." and made me wonder how much more this Son of Cornwall (note: Son of Cornwall (2020) is a biopic about the life and career of opera star John Treleaven) can inveigle his way into that foreign land called 'D*v*n'.
