This was an awakener for me before I came here when, after listing ALL the times of the meals they eat here, my asawa described my full bowl of macaroni cheese as what they call a 'snack'. In fact, she preferred adding tinned mixed fruit and cream to the macaroni (which I now know is a traditional sweet dish). Don't know about everyone else, but when I made macaroni cheese as my main meal I would eat it for the next 3 days - somehow it got better each time.
We finished it up tonight with the pork chops I made. It was indeed good. Can't believe there are people who asked what Mac n Cheese was though. Yes, the macaroni and fruit will become very popular this holiday season.
When I make it I add (preferably smoked) ham cut in little blocks also, and yes, it's easy to reheat in the microwave. (For me) typically something you'd make when you don't feel like spending more than 10 minutes in the kitchen to prepare a hot meal, and although you can't argue taste of course, it's quite palatable. Luckily these days my asawa enjoys cooking so I get a much more varied menu for dinner compared to when I lived alone.
Let my asawa anywhere near macaroni and the tin of fruit cocktail is dumped on top! Does anyone recall the quote from Jerry Hall - about a woman should be a chef in the kitchen and ....... ? Don't feel I can quote it all here.
Another reference you might have to google - Desperate Dan and cow pie. Not just the YouTube as that pie is WAY too small. A real cow pie would probably be just right for your daily calorie intake.
