Really good news. I hope they will deliver to Dumaguete and they can keep this promise for the various provinces in the Philippines:

"While doing your part helps keep our prices low, for a small fee we can pick products from the self-serve area for you, deliver them to your home and assemble, too."

This will be important to know if you buy a kitchen from them. And if you are all thumbs like me I will also need help assembling a bigger cabinet, sideboard etc.

I would imagine they will deliver to Dumaguete, but I wouldn't hold my breath about them coming to assemble anything.

I think they will eventually contract with local businesses to provide this service.

I bought a lot of IKEA stuff when i lived in Oman ( Muscat). it was a good price and fairly durable, end tables, coffee tables, dresser drawers, cupboards etc.. It is mainly made out of particle board, looks good and fairly long lasting but that's in an aircon or low humidity environment. When we moved back here with some of it it fell apart due to the humidity, the plastic finishes delaminated, the screws pulled out or rusted out.. within a year...

Yup ... I think that is what customers here will find as well unless their stuff has been properly treated for this climate. Beware!

Not that a lot of the local stuff is any better. The climate here just isn't well suited for cheaply made products.

I used wood glue when assembling flat-packs (not part of the process but makes it stronger) - once I glued it all and then realised I left out the backs (which slotted in before fixing the top on)! Fortunately I still had time to remedy it - thankfully did not use superglue.

I assume a top International company with stores in 57 countries and 12 more planned, will have thought about climate.
