Got a problem with my 3.0 diesel Hilux - engine warning light is on, engine runs rough (misfiring/lack of power - but no smoke) and have been advised not to drive it any distance as this could result in severe damage. We live a couple of hours from DGT so could use the services of a knowledgeable and reliable, mobile, Toyota mechanic, preferably with, or access to, an OBDII scanner. Alternatively, and a last resort, someone with a trailer or truck that could take the vehicle to said mechanic or Toyota in Sibulan. Thanks

You could consider buying an OBDCII scanner.
A quick Google took me to Lazada https://www.lazada.com.ph/shop-auto...TXHO7y7bXbVqjPQhjPEYSTxFhFDGZW0kaAhHxEALw_wcB
They have a huge variety to choose from.

Several years ago I was going to buy one and found at around 8000 pesos there were units that would Bluetooth to a smart phone and the manufacturers had free apps for the different models of vehicle. If the literature was true The app would provide diagnostics in plain English.

i'm pretty sure i saw a rollback/car hauler in the area in the past and i would think the toyota dealer would have hauling connections.

also... i did a search ( rollback dumaguete ) and got a hit.

A couple of questions?? Who told you not to drive it?? Did you try to change the fuel filter?? or drain it and see how much water/crud comes out of it.

Two independent mechanics told me not to drive it, 1 in USA and another local. No water in fuel but haven't removed filter as I don't have a replacement O-ring kit as yet. I've ordered an OBD2 scanner, as recommended by Show Pony, so we'll see what that reveals.

Why would you need an O"Ring kit just to replace the fuel filter??? Also i doubt very much if a vehicle that year even has an OBD port to plug the scanner into..
