Posted originally in "Vaccines," which is too important to hi-jack for a FarceBook rant:

Duh, Farcebook tracks fkn everything, then sells it to its clients. Why do you think Farcebook offers to "assist" you to sign onto other membership websites, so they can track your info in the medical or shopping or group websites.. If you click a link with FB "referrals", they are going to know you are interested in wherever the link goes. That's not really important, because big brother has been following us for decades.

Why do you think FB offers:
"Remember Password; Next time you log in on this browser, just click your profile picture instead of typing a password." Why ? So you remain "logged in" and connected to farcebook's tracking software, no matter if you close FB or even close the browser.. (this might a bit over the top)

This is NOT rocket science, and i am NOT a conspiracy freak (the CIA did NOT kill kennedy). I believe some research would find confirmation of this.....

In 2009, finally switched to gmail, 5 yrs after its launch. One of my first emails was to a friend talking about a trip to eastern europe. Within days, i'd gotten 10 ads for travel agencies. Google search is so profitable (same thing as FB), gmail stopped ads in the mailbox later.

Whatsapp is now losing users because FB is forcing them to share their info.
    For searching use dukduckgo
For email use protonmail.com (also do a limited free vpn)
For FB - don't use it!
Microsoft - huh! Deleted my account on my pc- had to wait 60 days before they will confirm and now the f*cking thing is still showing up on the pc.

The internet big boys own us all. They are the new government.

Should try duckduckgo, is it as good as google; protonmail.com ?? Wired says: "DuckDuckGo works in broadly the same way as any other search engine, Google included. ... Google does exactly the same, albeit on a somewhat larger scale. The key difference: DuckDuckGo does not store IP addresses or user information."

The problem with farcebk is all dumaguete biz's are on it, and a friend keeps sayin "i refuse to use FB, so will you look up etc etc.."

I'm 77, sure i'll be outta here before big tech takes over.... Life is a constant Risk-Benefit analysis. How much loss of privacy should i allow for the convenience of .......????

ADDED: if you "clear history" or use "incognito," does chrome still have ur search history ?? or are they ALL lying <grin>...

I cannot say duckduckgo is as good as google for results as I never compared them but it does not save search history (good for the naughty boys!).

I never use Chrome (it is Google's) but I know that using a 'Private Window' on my two favourite browsers (Brave and Firefox) means that when you close them, everything you did (history) is cleared. But, and some do not realise this, it does not stop your ISP or other sites seeing your browsing. That is where VPN comes in.

Btw, Brave browser also does a 'private Window with Tor'.

And with Whatsapp becoming more tied to FB and Insta(showusyourt*tsdarling)gram, alternatives are Telegram and Signal. All three need a smartphone (or just stupidphone possibly) for initial sign up and Whatsapp needs an emulator (like Bluestacks) to run on Windows. I have not used any of them so have no reports to make - I just like to know what is out there.

At the risk of going off-topic and getting one of those end-on-views-of-a-coffin icons, I just want to grant you a FULL pardon before I leave (my imaginary) Office.
