My Passport expires in early March. I need to courier it to the US Embassy in Manila for renewal. My problem is that I do not have a bank account here and BDO nor BPI will let me buy this Draft. Does anyone know if the US Embassy Manila will accept this US Demand Draft if it is purchased for you by a Relative or friend? I know the US Embassy in the UK will. I have received no reply from the embassy myself. Thank you.

Appreciate your reply and will participate on the 26th but I can't wait until the 26th for the answer. I am running out of time and I wanted to send my passport and documents out today. I wish they would take a credit card, Money order or managers check for mail-ins. The embassy takes a week or more to respond if ever and then I just get a canned response from them. I have people willing to get the draft for me, but I don't want to waste their time if the draft wont be accepted.
From their point of view they need to 1) confirm your identity and 2) collect fees. 1) They will use your passport to confirm your identity. 2) The demand draft is only about paying the fees. It will not matter who paid them. I do not think you will have any issues with a demand draft in someone else's name.
Thank you very much. You are probably right. I will try calling the Embassy one more time tomorrow morning to get clarification and will pass on what they say here. It would be helpful for other people in a similar situation to know this in the future. This Pandemic has turned my life upside down as it probably has for many others.
The embassy web page also says they accept the draft from Security Bank, which I believe has a branch in Duma. Maybe give them a shot. Please k Please let me know how you renew. I have the same issue with the demand draft. I called all three banks and they said only I could obtain the dollar draft. I live on Siquijor so that would require two weeks quarantine in Duma to get the draft and another two weeks quarantine when I return home. Very frustrating Thanks much
Check with the authorities on the need for quarantine. As I understand you can go to another province for 24 hours without quarantine if you have an important reason with pre-approval and follow the rules. The term is Authorized Person Outside Residence (APOR). This is how an attorney brought COVID to Dumaguete after he went to see a senator in Manila. Get pre-approval for this and you should be OK.
