It just goes to show how deadly this virus is.. As we all know there have been no deaths from Dengue, Rabies, Pneumonia, Flu or Cancers since this virus was discovered..
The Wall Street Journal January 2021 ........The recorded death count from the Covid-19 pandemic as of Thursday is nearing 2 million. The true extent is far worse. More than 2.8 million people have lost their lives due to the pandemic, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of data from 59 countries and jurisdictions. This tally offers the most comprehensive view yet of the pandemic’s global impact. Deaths in these places last year surged more than 12% above average levels. Less than two-thirds of that surge has been attributed directly to Covid-19. Public-health experts believe that many, if not most, of the additional deaths were directly linked to the disease, particularly early in the pandemic when testing was sparse. Some of those excess deaths came from indirect fallout, from health-care disruptions, people avoiding the hospital and other issues.
According to the published numbers, Covid-19 did not cause an increase of mortality when comparing 2019 against 2020.....?? So, it looks like that Covid-19 was a blessing for the PH taking these numbers into consideration, did it....really!!
So the fear campaign put on by governments and the media directly resulted in people losing their lives prematurely. How many people's (people that were at extremely low risk of morality from covid) lives have been shortened and worsened due medical issues that came from the additional financial strain, unnecessary stress and depression by governments reactions and this fear campaign telling everyone that it is not even safe to go to the hospital? The world's reaction to this virus has been a complete sh*t show and has, IMO, done far more harm than good.
I doubt that very much and where is you source for stating this? Do you have anything concrete to support this view?
It is true that many countries really screwed this up by not taking a centralized strict approach. The USA and UK being the worst. Successful countries early on established quarantine rules and required wearing a mask while the USA and UK failed to do this early in the pandemic. At first, the USA and UK took a laissez-faire attitude and left the decisions to local institutions and personal choice. Instead of putting strict rules in place they tried to educate the population into making good decisions like wearing a mask. Some people see this education as fear mongering. This educational "fear mongering" was necessary in an attempt to educate the population. After COVID spread through the communities and took hold with large numbers of active cases these countries then established stricter procedures. But by then it was too late. Economically speaking they are paying dearly for this and will continue to pay into the future. Successful countries early on set aside hospitals and medical facilities for COVID while letting non-COVID hospitals go about their regular business. (Elective surgeries, etc.) The countries that acted early reduced the "amplified stress and financial strain". Maybe you would like to live in China where the government brought the pandemic under control. The USA and UK are paying the price for an attempt at individual liberty.
I agree with you, but despite all of the evidence, there are still those who believe that where there are restrictions (both in terms of lockdowns/closures and physical measures such as masks etc) these have been over the top and/or unnecessary. Many believe that the virus should have just been left to run its course, merely killing mainly old or vulnerable people along the way. 2.4m deaths so far is just not enough for some.
