Bur you fail to include the entire paragraph, Less than two-thirds of that surge has been attributed directly to Covid-19. Public-health experts believe that many, if not most, of the additional deaths were directly linked to the disease, particularly early in the pandemic when testing was sparse
Did I say that anything about covid deaths? No, I did not. I said that many have lost their lives due to the fear campaign put on by the government and media. That is a fact and your own source days that 1/3 of the deaths were directly linked to fear of going to the hospitals. What is your problem? Are you intentionally taking everything I say out of context and missing the point of are you just that dense? Actually I don't care. The information posted here on the forum concerning covid during your ban was reasonable and informative and everyone got it and discussed it like adults without every comment needed to be broken down Barney style. You come back and it is immediately a bunch of bad takes and nonsense. Who said the virus should have been left to run its course and no action at all should have been taken? Who said 2.4m deaths was not enough? Please provide quotes to back up this conclusion you have came to.

Maybe, every time you say how bad the government and media have handled the pandemic, you should describe with some detail what you think should have been done. Simply making negative statements about fear campaigns and the authorities handling of the situation leaves room between the lines for people to assume what you think. This leads to confusion. The authorities set thresholds of hospital capacity that triggered shutdowns. (Shutdowns occurred when hospitals reached 85% capacity.) https://abc7news.com/ca-stay-at-hom...a-update-santa-clara-county-regional/8588332/ Obviously the fear campaign was *not* enough to make people social distance and wear masks. What do you think should have been communicated and how would that reduce COVID hospital admissions?
I'm sure Covid has acted in unison with other diseases, which has led to questions of what caused the death. That said, it's clear that social gatherings have resulted in more infection and death. Social gathering doesn't cause an increase in cancer, heart attacks and strokes. I think it's pretty clear that masks, social distancing and washing hands led to a reduction in the spread of Covid. In addition, more infected people will lead to more infected people, this is not true for the diseases that aren't infectious.
