Does anyone know where I can purchase Borax / Boric Acid Powder in Dumaguete, as my house is infested with ants. I can buy it on Lazada, but don't want to wait a couple of weeks.

    I don't know.
Lee Plaza near the laundry detergent. People use borax and boric acid to wash/whiten clothes.

    Works on cockroaches too!

Thought I would check this out, so on the net read "Borax in its insecticide formulations doesn't kill all insects. It does kill ants, cockroaches, mites and spiders, among other insects, and it can also kill algae, molds and fungi. Borax doesn't kill some insects such as aphids or ticks that eat plant juices, and it doesn't kill insect larva. Unfortunately, borax can also kill some plants, because the sodium in the borax products dries out the plants."

Some of that might be correct BUT mites and spiders are not insects and molds (moulds) are fungi (also I am not aware of 'plant ticks' and ticks are not insects either)! Have to be careful what we read.

Single use of borax will not destroy ants. It should be a mix of borax with powdered sugar, honey or any other kind of very sweet stuff. Wish you good luck as it ain't not that so easy to get rid off it; talking from my own experience some years ago.

I got rid of mine a few years ago using borax but they have come back with a vengeance. It seems like they have a perpetual lines of ants that come from all sides of the house, and they climb 3 floors to the roof deck walk to the other side and down the other side. Been using borax recently but don't have any effect this time.
Heard Sevin is good but be careful how you use it!

I found Terro worked very well, but I don't think you will ever be able to eliminate the ant problem permanently, no matter what you do....I battled them (hundreds of them) every single day.

The trick is, the ants returning to the nest do carry traces of the mix (borax with..) and thus transmitting what's still living in the nest including the queen. Once the queen has been erased no new ants until a new queen will rise up and the battle start all over again. Like @okiebound says, it's an ongoing, never ending battle, you cannot win as only try to keep it under control as much as possible.

Had some years ago same problem and used with success Diatomaceous Earth ( not Food grade) , ordered at Lazada.

some of my own notes of that time may help::::

quote “ Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth Powder - Safe for Children & Pets

Pest control Grade is used for fighting off ticks, fleas, ants etc. and filter swimmingpools.

required by law to have a food grade label and a pest control label to meet the regulations of both the FDA and the EPA.

also required to recommend the food grade label for any internal uses ????.

Internal parasites ??? can be controlled by giving Diatomaceous Earth internally ???.

It is very important to note that it must be food grade –

the earth used in gardens and pool filters can damage your dog.

Make sure you purchase and use food grade DE only.

DE can cause irritation on the lungs

so please ensure you and your dog don’t inhale

or the cheap “1.2.3 powder Insectterminator from FEMAS Agrivet

    or Boric acid BORAX"
