I'm just wondering what you guys are using right now. I always used FB/Messenger(too overrated) but it is worth it. One thing I don't like is that sometimes my messages were sent to other people/friends and the person I wanted to. How about you? What messaging app do you like to use?

Filipinos will use messenger because it is free. I prefer SMS but most of the time the person I'm messaging doesn't have load to reply.

Never once had the issue with stuff being sent to the wrong person in messenger. Likely user error.

I use WhatsApp. Pigeons tend to get eaten here

I lean over and talk to my wife. Most of the time she doesn't listen. I have read the postings here and decided to buy a carrier pigeon - as @Senjenbing intimates, I can eat it if it proves equally as useless.

The best messaging app in my experience, by some margin, is Wechat, but unfortunately not a lot of people outside of China use it.

It has a lot of really useful functions other apps don't, like sending and receiving money without transfer fees, pay bills, or count how many steps you've walked that day (if you're a fat b*****d). You can even shake your phone and a list of ladies (and gents) in the local area who would be interested to chat show up. Not that I've done that of course, I just heard about it......

I introduced a lot of my non-Chinese friends to it when I was living in China, and now they don't use anything else.

You wouldn't, however, want to spurt some anti-Chinese propaganda on there though

Hope I'm not too late. I have the money but unfortunately it is stuck in Nigeria (as gold bullion, of course). If you can send me $2,000,000,000,000,000 I can get the $50 released. Then I won't care a f*** what the pigeon does.

Probably, a user error but I am just wondering how it happens.

Maybe I will consider this one, thank you.

Favorite by far is signal, though I'm also using WhatsApp / Messenger if necessary.

Signal is currently the messenger that (in my opinion) is least likely to leak meta data (who are you talking to, and when) or actual chat contents to any interested third parties. Partly because they are committed not to do so, but more importantly, because they are trying to not hold any such information longer than necessary on a technical level.

Facebook (running WhatsApp and messenger) on the other hand is going to sell you to the highest bidder, especially if they can safely assume you're not protected by EU privacy regulations. With WhatsApp chat contents should be safe, but that's about it.
