The Philippines is quite famous for it's live bands and there is certainly a lot of great talent out there.
    While its true I dont hit the clubs anymore and dont really buy music these days, I still love to listen to a good band while holidaying in Phil;
It was another posting created by a fellow forum member Cerne that got my enthusiasm up again for watching videos of live performances in the absence of the real thing.
I discovered by accident, a version by Paul Carrack of the flipside of
"Ferry across the Mersey"which was "Dont let the Sun catch you crying"
which I found pleasant to listen to, which led me to find more about the guy.
I was surprised to find a soulful voice that reminded me of the late great Sam Cook.
Showing my age now as I share this one of Paul Carrack singing "Satisfy my Soul"
Wondering how many members still go to see live music performed in your local area?

Cheers John Boy for the mench’. Me n the asawa sometimes play the ‘what would be your dream gig lineup?’ game as the sun sets ang sa bay bay. This sometimes expands into a 3 day fest’ at various venues complete with unplugged sesh’s across the island. Obviously I have cashed in my Bitcoin fortune and miraculously assumed the power of resurrection to bring these artists to the Phils. Don Papa Rum has amazing qualities...

I s’pose I’d better embellish, Siquijor is blessed with an ambundance of resorts and a couple of well meaning sports stadia that are decaying into rack n ruin. Um, the High Jump pit is populated by a docile Caribau, the 200m bend infested by kanding and if one wanted to Pole Vault limb breakage is a certainty. But it has rock n roll possibilities.

I’ve umm’d and ahhhh’d over the lineup, but considering my recently cashed in Bitcoin fortune and my recently acquired powers of resurrection AND the fact that Dong n Juan have repaired said stadia, installed a world class pa n mixing desk, managed to sling a gantry or two of lights and there are no brownouts....

3pm John Otway and Wild Willie Barrett.
    4.15pm The Buzzcocks
    5.30. Yasmin Levi
6.45. The Alabama 3 (note the resurrectional quality going on here.)
8pm Echo and the Bunnymen (again, I’m assuming Lazarus qualities with the bass player)
    9.15: Erika Wennerstrom.
    10.30 The War on Drugs
    11-45 until whenever...My Morning Jacket

Nights 2 n 3 are gilded by my exquisite taste, side shows, unplugged seshs. It’s in the bag. Thousands flock to the island, resorts are filled. Everyone lives in peace n harmony and treats the place with Eco loving respect. The next day World Peace day is announced, I’m given a Sainthood, previous Presidents n Prime Ministers line up to apologise personally for their misdeeds, I go home to a pasty, choosing to live the rest of my life in humble anonymity.

    gotta be done.

    cheers C.

I gave you a winner for that picture ... BUT @Cerne is more discerning and might analyse it!

Your pic of the humble crowst is above average. As Swede is unavailable here ‘er indoors substitutes Acorn Squash and though not necessarily traditional it makes for a very acceptable substitute. She’s a dab ‘and at churning ‘em out if wasn’t for locals referring to them as “empanadas”. Tsk. Bring a bit of civilisation and liberties are taken. I’m not sure EU rules on food origins apply in our off the beaten track part of the world but I’m guessing if pushed she could bung a couple dozen out a day, freeze ‘em oven ready or baked and they would have the genuine label ‘Cornish’ on the grounds that I might have passed by the Kuchina for a couple of mins and said “more salt n pepper day” or “easy on the skirt steak wumun. Costs a Bleddy fortune.” POA as they say.

    cheers,

    C

Live hits different than being listened to in headphones.

Live music creates more intense emotions than streaming music. It entertains more of your senses. You feel the music in your bones, you see the performers and the lights, you're in the middle of a crowd that - like you - loves to hear this stuff, and the atmosphere is amazing.

Too loud, off-key, nothing like the original and unable to turn it off when you've had enough?
