I recently had point to point PLDT internet installed at the in-laws place. Was promised 20+ MBPS but am only getting 6 with poor latency. I'm thinking the antenna need to be adjusted but the company I'm dealing with is hopeless. Looking for a recommendation for an expert in this field to troubleshoot the problem. I'm happy to pay for their time and expert opinion even if they tell me everything is normal.
Globe has just gotton their newest modems and will install the modem and do the speed check on your device to show that you are getting 25MBPS. Just installed it in all my homes and loving it. Also did my own speed test after they left and getting 25+
I have global and local experience with cellular and communications and can suggest some things to try but need a bit more info. Questions, Is this PLDT home WiFi, so a Cellular modem with SIM? Pre or post paid? You say point to point so that implies two fixed dedicated antennas focused on each other. Some third parties offer this and they then connect the users to their Fibre on the other end. Or if it's using cellular it is single point normally paddle antenna pointing to base station tower? And if it is this is the modem at the top of the pole or is it in the house with Coax cable to the antenna?
Several years ago I had the same situation with PLDT point to point. I wasn't able to resolve it and quit paying for it. The 2.4G signal received at your location from the tower is dependent on clear line of sight and distance. Near any where their promised speed is dependant on both factors. The 2.4G microwave signal is blocked by houses. tall trees and hills between you. Green leafy trees are a microwave killer. What is the only solution? Putting your receiving antenna to be able to see over the tall trees or buildings. Trees grow so allow for future height. A drone pointed at the tower from your location to be able see what elevation your antenna needs to be at is a possible solution. Drones were not invented yet in my PLDT situation. Another factor is your provided antenna weatherproof? Most proved antennas are to be used out of the rain. If you put the antenna on a pipe, guy it properly with 16 gauge GI wire. Even GI wire will rust and get weakened over time. shakey
