Some time ago i joined another expat forum on FB as things have been a bit slow and not so much new posts on here for the last while. I think these forums are good places to pick up and give out information but this new one is an eye opener, just about every post starts out as a reasonable question or statement but within a few comments descends into full contact combat with all sorts of insults being hurled around by various keyboard warriors. But now and again something interesting comes along and today people are commenting about the PNP visiting houses where expats live and asking them to fill out a Personal Data Sheet (for foreigners only), the police say the purpose of it is to create a "police friends network". Has anybody on this forum encountered this yet ? I don't know how any of you see this but i personally would steer well clear of this and send them to the BI or NBI both of which have all my details on file (or should have)
They did something similar several years ago. Just ask them for the local emergency numbers and politely pass on filling out any forms.
I wonder if this ties in with the ID system for citizens (which the UK rejected because of cost but which seems to be progressing here very swiftly) - then they have data on citizens and aliens. I wrote this on 26 July 1984.
Balikbayan Waivers have no record here, or maybe they just like doing things in duplicate, triplicate, quadruplicate, quintuplicate, sextuplicate, septuplicate, octuplicate, nonuplicate, decuplicate (had to look these up!) - but SURELY NOT here! Perhaps it is the way they will monitor those aliens who get vaccinated.
Pondering this - and knowing that the PNP has other very pressing issues to deal with - I am very suspicious that computer records of vaccinated aliens will be run against records of aliens currently in the Philippines and those who are not willing to be vaccinated might be 'invited' to leave. This would accord with the principle here that it is okay if citizens behave in a certain way but we are not going to have aliens here ruining our country.
They visited me last year with this form. The small print refers to Americans as it seems to be a requirement the USA signed up to some years ago. I politely told them I was not American, showed them the relevant paragraph and haven't seen them since.
