During my military career was trained in IMET and FMS. That’s International Military Education & Training and Foreign Military Sales. Was assigned to Central Command and deployed to an Embassy in East Africa. Was not involved in hands on training but did the paperwork to start the training and education programs. I completely understand what the instructors in Afghanistan endured.

Well, of course I am not going to disagree with your statements about other countries participating - you were there. But why was it your war? Because of the attack on 9/11? An attack on a NATO member, an attack created from a country harbouring dangerous terrorists, a World threat. I think, if so, then it was a war of the US, other Nato members and the Free World.
Russia had a nine year war with Afghanistan, ending in 1989. Russia couldn’t win then so what made the US think they could win? The US was involved enough in that war that they should have been able to see that to spend 20 yrs, thousands of lives, billions of dollars would be foolish and embarrassing.
That would have been George W Bush. He had some bad advisors namely Cheney and Rumsfeld. They were the same a$$hats that got the war in Iraq started with their BS about weapons of mass destruction.
Oh yes - that man with his finger on the nuclear button but was unable to pronounce 'nuclear' correctly.
