General population to get jabs soon with more vax deliveries

* The government will start the inoculation of the general population once the expected 61 million doses are delivered within September and October.

* Expecting for SEPTEMBER: 12 million doses Sinovac and 20 million doses of Pfizer. An additional 600,000 doses of the AstraZeneca jab will arrive on Monday. Also set for delivery 1 million doses each of Sputnik and Japan-donated AstraZeneca, 8 to 10 million doses from the COVAX Facility and 3 to 5 million doses of Moderna.

*Expecting for October: 10 million doses of Sinovac, 10 million of Pfizer, 3 million doses of Moderna, a million doses of AstraZeneca, 3 to 5 million doses from the COVAX Facility, and 1.5 million doses from bilateral donations.

* To date, the Philippines has 54,794,130 doses, with 38,625,270 of them already administered. The National Covid-19 vaccination dashboard data showed 21,889,394 have received first dose while 16,735,876 have completed two doses as of Sept. 11.

With a total current population of around 111 million, of which 37 mln younger than 15, there would be 74 mln to be vaccinated, excluding children. If we disregard the single dose Janssen vaccine, and assume 75% willingness to be vaccinated, then that means 111 mln doses are needed in total. With 55 mln doses already received, and a further 77 mln in the pipeline for sep/oct ( so a total of 132 mln) that would mean either
1. push up the willingness among adults to get vaccinated, or
2. start vaccinating children, or
3. start giving booster shots.

From the numbers further down in your post I get to 77 mln, not 61 for September/October combined.

I am far too busy in the lockdowns to count!

But perhaps 'Filipino math' is like 'Filipino time'.

Fixed it for you........
