Signed up to Starlink a couple of months ago and it's due here in Phil's next year. It could force Globe & Smart to up their game. The future looks bright....at least on the connectivity front. Interesting, pings are much better then i expected at 20 to 40 ms. I almost subscribed, more as a backup option. Might still do it, only cost a 99USD which will be refunded when cancelled. If ever i want to move to a more remote area this looks like something can make this possible, since i will always be working online. Appealing idea not to be depending any ph company for internet. They expect to start service here in 2022. Or if i subscribe, i reckon plenty of people would like to use this on any remote resort or some other business. Only a possible data cap will be a no-no. Or a not reasonable allowance at least. For now there is no limit, but will this stay like this.. So with expanding fibr and even 5g options coming was wondering how remote are you planning to use this, or is it not to depend on ph company what makes it attractive to you?
I bet countries are going to have a problem with this. Laws will almost certainly be passed by countries requiring they have some say over the internet being used in their country (especially countries in the middle east and countries with authoritarian leaning governments) and demanding taxes be paid.

With a 500$ initial cost and a monthly fee of 99$ I can't see many potential customers for Starlink in the Philippines, apart from the odd wealthy individual who wishes to live too far from where fiber is available. Since the cheapest fiber plans are around 1/3 of the monthly fee for Starlink (albeit with slower speed), and faster speed than Starlink can be had from a fiber connection at a still cheaper monthly fee, I would say there's not much incentive at all to go for Starlink for those who have access to a fiber connection. I'm thinking they'd have to include an attractive array of tv-channels at the very least to increase the interest among potential customers, but am afraid that's not in the cards.
Cable is soon to be a thing of the past. Streaming is king. I don't think they should waste their time and money catering to tv licensing to a generation than is soon to kick the bucket.
Not nearly as offensive as when some of us were refered to as "Boomer/irrelevant/a burden on society".
