"big cheese factories" ?? you mean like Wisconsin <grin>...

Also, for future reference, anyone claiming "individually wrapped processed cheese slices" bear ANY remote similarity to real cheese will be banned from the thread. <grin>

And pretty sure Dutchie is right. Really enjoy the variety of cheese that has become available in the last half decade, or maybe I just didn't know about them. Like the number of high quality restaurants.

I think a lot of it available before, just at ridiculous prices. I think 5+ years ago, a lot of it was individuals/small businesses importing it through their own contacts. It seems now that there are some major importers bringing this stuff in bulk, driving down prices.

fbessentials.com is Belcris. They have a pretty big cheese selection. I think the deli at La Residencia (JHL?) also has some, though I've only been in there once. Blair's Proper Food Store also carries some cheese I think.

Hi Dutchie, when you put a wager on the smoked Gouda not being from the Netherlands I did not still have the carton with "Product of Holland" on it and I was just basing it on the fact that the lady was wearing clogs near a windmill .

New stock in store...its an excellent soft smoked Gouda...Photos attached, she looks Dutch and the box agrees.

Also some excellent German Cambazola arriving later this week.

    Thanks

Popped into Blair's today to pick up a few things and, as always, the range of goods is increasing. Among other things we left with a loaf of freshly baked wheatbread which hit all the right spots. Great texture and taste, just like mum used to make. I will definitely be back for more next time.

I checked the "Z0312 EC" marker, and it's indeed the marker for a Dutch cheese company in Woerden, so I was wrong assuming it wasn't Dutch, my apologies.
The "dutch girl" with clogs and windmill (and tulips!!) is obviously still just a marketing thingy though, but if it sells well like that, who am I to discredit it
