Announced yesterday that the Dumaguete Mayor has extended curfew to midnight. This is justified by low virus cases and high vaccination rates (plus in my view - need to keep tourists happy and preserve the city nightlife, but don't need to start that debate again). Strangely though, live music has to cease at 10pm. Seems odd. Can't see the connection between eating/drinking vs eating/drinking/listening to music, as far as spreading a virus is concerned. Then again, as posted here before by others, should stop looking for logic.
Singing expels more air and playing an instrument causes a rise in respiratory processes, also expelling more air. *disclaimer* This is all sarcasm and I was one of those murderers that advocated for personal responsibility the entire "pandemic."
There's an anti-noise ordinance after 10 p.m. for residential areas that predates pandemic. Some people abide by it.
Residential areas? There are zoning laws in this country? So you can just switch to prerecorded music after 10?
Who, except you, said anything about zoning? But there are "zoning" laws of a sort in this country that are in place to levy real estate taxes. Almost the entire area of Valencia is "zoned" agricultural including (I think) Tierra Alta. Residential areas are areas where large numbers of people reside.
Words matter...especially when talking about law. Define a "large number of people". If the law states "residential areas" they must have a definition for that.
