    I don't know.
As a young man I was given advice from a very old guy (probably he was younger than the age I am at now at 69yrs, likely he was about 55 at the time) he said: women are only good for two things and that is Fecking and Frying Ham! and most cannot fry Ham, he went on to say; never could any of my three wife's fry Ham, but I do have 10 children, this turned out to be very true especially in my case, my UK wife of 36yrs could not fry ham and I did all the cooking in the house, maybe we did not do much of the Fecking either as we only ever had two children? but in fairness to her she was a great mother to them and I'm glad these two children had her as a mother, both of them turned out to be well adjusted adults.

It is now my opinion that Pinays in general are only good for that one thing and very good at it but they are useless at frying Ham.

I have been coming here to the Philippines for 10yrs and lived here on a more permanent basis for 7yrs I have had a half dozen GF's here and all but one was past child bearing age and only my present one is not and there was an accident and the reason I have a young son here, I never ever wished to have any more children but I do love this little boy, with my guidance to his mother he has been steered in the right direction and a good little boy, however there is a fly in the ointment, my GF has another son to her Pinoy sh*t husband he was a wife beater as many are here? when he left she had to work full time and that included working abroad as a domestic, during all this time of her working, her son was taken care of by her Parents, nice people they are but about as stupid as they get here, now this young teenager as he is now at 13.5yrs suffers from arrested development, he is borderline retarded or would be considered to be this way in the western world, he was not born stupid but has become, mostly because of his Grandparents, actually to be very honest although stupid people can be useful and do menial jobs, this boy is about as lazy as they come and will never amount to anything, all he ever does is play games on his smart phone and sometimes goes to the Plaza in Valencia on his new P20K mountain bike, this is a long ride of 1.2klms and there he plays with his 10yr old friends, likely playing Cowboys and Indians, at that age I was much more sensible and feeling up girls in the bike sheds a much more appropriate pastime in that age group. Now there is one good reason for not taking the family back to UK he could not fit in there, this Boy Fecking annoys me and plays a very small part in my decision to leave here.

I do have a reasonable income having two pensions also a very suitable house with 4 bedrooms and could just about support a family of 4 back in UK, but this would have to be on a tight budget, I believe with the small amount I have left in my UK bank account it would not be enough to sponsor them to get their Visa's anyway, I already have my will made out and If anything does happen to me half of my assets come here to the Philippines.

My GF is 31yrs younger than me and now when I look in the mirror at myself I see the Ugly Old Fat Fecker that I have become, I am not all that comfortable in this situation with this much younger woman, even though this is perfectly acceptable here?

I have a very similar problem. My stepson, 9 yrs, not a bad person but with a mental age about 5yrs, but bone idle. Single mum, left him with parents while she went to work as domestic in Manila. Her parents are not stupid people - hard working farmers, but I think they spoil young kids too much - as do many filipinos. Idiot games on cell phones and an addiction to kiddy tv. Mum is now realizing the potential problem and getting 'on his case' - no cell phones, strict limits on tv and definite jobs to do. I hope it works.

Dave having also read " Part Two" of your personal story, I would say you have opened up with such frank and self honesty that many a man would not of admitted.
It's true to say that at some point in time, most Expats have to make the decision to return home, in most cases it's health reasons.
The last ten years of your life, you have done something many guy's will only dream of and that in itself is to admired.
Many would not of provided a home for the Mother and child they were leaving behind, which I'm sure took some heart searching.
From the little I have learnt about you, it seems that even now as you are about to leave, you have already planned provisions for the childs future.
Things will no doubt work out for you in Scotland for the best, regarding your possible future health issues, you have my sincere respect. JB

Thank you Sir, Honesty has always been very important to me, I get to meet many Foreigners usually in Bars as I am a Drunker Scottish Master, but it never ceases to amaze me how many of these guys seem to re-invent themselves when they come here to the Philippines? many of them are age 60 plus and you would think they would have learned how to conduct themselves by that age? Thanks again, Dave
