Went to Arbour last night. 4 adults, 3 courses each - 2 bottles red wine, 2 Bombay Sapphire G & Ts, 1 coffee, 1 fruit juice, 1 green tea. Good service & excellent food at a reasonable price. P5.6k the evening

Went there tonight. 2 adults, 3 courses each, 3 martinis, 2 soft drinks. P2500. The only thing I would ask for from this restaurant would be more protein heavy dishes. Still, one of my top choices in Dumaguete. IMO, Kri tops this place due to a slightly wider selection and being more generous with the protein.

Life is short and being thrifty helps when your on a budget of some sort. I for one have my Asawa pay the bill and usually leave the receipt with the cashier to dispose of. I have no interest in costs as inflation, skimming off the top, lowering portion or package size or passing out out-dated goods is a Global custom. When I am hungry I will eat any where. Hence what my Pop taught me > "If yah need to ask, yah can't afford it"

It's a severe global trend. Food prices are up everywhere. Government here in Oz is trying to hide rapidly rising food pricing amongst the other somewhat less rising costs of living...Oldest son is working between US, South and Central America, and Germany this last year and has seen prices rising everywhere. Not a happy boy - he gets to pocket less and less per diem. This is going to get extremely serious in the third world - likely to include the Philippines as they can't feed themselves anymore. Food riots are starting in several countries now...

As long as there is plenty of rice then the Phil will be okay, Us Expats may suffer some though ...

Filipino food is much more than just rice and the people who survive on mostly rice are already struggling. Minor price increases for rice would be de devastating for those people. Carbs are not an essential macronutrient and they most definitely will sacrificed the two essential ones for carbs just to feel full.

Those lucky enough or smart enough may have some land to grow food and breed poultry.
