I will be in Duma in a few weeks, if you want me to come along and see the work the workshops do happy to help.

I'm also interested to see how they do things in general compared to what I have seen in Manila and other parts of the world.

I bet you aren't going to be impressed. B'man seems to have the most "modern"and well maintained equipment of all the shops I visited. Looked like a fairly respectable shop in Small Town, USA. The rest, even though they may do a good job, have shops that look like they haven't updated in 20-50 years, and a few of them could be confused for a junk yard.

*Note: Years ago I had my Fireblade repainted (twice) at a paint shop similar to these less modern shops and they did a pretty good job both times. The shop had since closed but his family runs another one in the area (that I didn't visit). It would probably be my second choice if I were just going by the state of their equipment.

I seen some shitters in my years. Long time ago I was looking for a bodyshop in Manila to skills test workers to bring back to Australia. Was a bit of a eye opener for sure and ended up just poaching staff from a well run Honda workshop in Manila. Took a chance with no skills testing and brought 12 workers back to Aust.

I went in a super nice workshop last week here in northern Thailand, was a nice surprise to see such a well run clean workshop, at a guess around 2,000 square meters. Most workshops are like the Philippines.

My concern with many of the shops/businesses (not just paint shops) here is if I see weeds growing, old broken down rusted junk cars/parts sitting around, rusty buildings, flimsy plywood doors/bedsheets for main entrances, a business sign provided by Tanduay, or other such nonsense I'm going to assume that they are quite experienced and cutting corners and care very little about the fine details. And if they don't care about their own property I have very little confidence they are going to care about mine.

Are any new car dealership workshops in Duma area? Like the new car dealers what repair shop do they go to? Lots of new cars get damaged on arrival they must have some place.

You may need to go to Cebu or buy a black pen and get the kids to colour it in....

Bman's is a used car dealership. I know Hyundai doesn't have a body shop, not sure about the others. I certainly wouldn't want to pay dealership repair/labor rates. I only do the oil change at Hyundai because they will void my warranty if I don't. P3k for an oil change here is ridiculous IMO but when they are holding a gun to your head what choice do you have?

I meant new car dealers not used. New car dealers are normally better quality, used are 100% about saving money. I assume same in Pi.

Dealership rates may be ok if its done right and once......... I think you said 12k ? so if quality job (if available) was say 20k at the end of the day its not a massive amount.......just a thought.

A issue with these Fred in a shed set ups is if they paint the car a few times because they stuff it up first time or the customer is not happy the paint then the paint gets too thick. If the paint gets to about 200 microns or more it can have cracking issues in the future. New the paint should be around 70 microns from what I remember.

If Hyundai (new dealership) is charging me 3k for an oil change I can't imagine what they would charge for body work if they had the ability to do so. I'd guess upwards of 30k. That would be a great deal in the West, but I'm in the Philippines.

3k for an oil change also seems to me a bit high. The Mitsubishi dealer, I always let do the oil change for my Mirage charge 710 a liter for synthetic oil + some labor.
But if just ordinary oil, price should be much lower of course.
