Have any of you tried acupuncture here or heard of anyone using it for pain relief?

This is from DI in 2017:

    https://dumagueteinfo.com/board/threads/acupuncture-in-dumaguete.28092/

But you may also wish to read:

https://www.verywellhealth.com/acupuncture-health-uses-88407 (Which lists negative side effects as well as the more well known positive effects it can have).

My own opinion is that pain can sometimes also be treated by relaxation and breathing techniques (which rarely have any side effects) and this could especially so for pains related to stress causing muscle tension. Stress may also lead to problems with sleep and that may exacerbate body pains.

My mother was a hypochondriac and that gene was passed down to me and unfortunately seems like it was passed down to my boy. I talked with my son and explained that I try and manage the problem by telling myself we should not worry about things we can not control. His greatest fear (he and I are very close) is that I will die soon because of my age and disabilities. He talks to my wife about that before he goes to sleep and cries. My doctor asked him if he wanted a psychiatrist but he said no. I talked to him and said let's enjoy life and not worry about what we can not control. He seems to accept that. He focuses on karate to help his stress.

It's great to be open - especially about issues of stress as no-one is worried to say they have a bad back or broke an arm but there is still a stigma about mental health. I have had issues - in fact they rarely go away 100% - but learned enough through study and experience to have some ideas about what works for ME (i.e. it may be different for others). Needing to control things we cannot is an issue for very many people - but some don't recognise it.

So all the best for your son and having two marvellous parents is always a plus for a child.
