Note: not sure if this is better posted under Banking, or Passports or here.....

Just spent a couple hours searching here on DI and on UT, but rather old info and no *contact info* of experienced ph Brokers/Shipping Agents. I also followed a couple of links.....that were dead.

I'm trying to make a final decision on pre-packing a few pallet sized crates and leaving them behind in storage for some months, waiting for my instructions on exactly where to ship to, once I am a bit settled in ph, and not to have to come back here. As after 27 months it looks like travel is somewhat possible again soon.

Before I select what to keep and pack, and how and etc, I'd like to hire an experienced Broker that could take care of all the details on arrival. And I'd pack, document etc etc as per instructions, for "best smoothness" of clearing on arrival -lol.

Any recommendations in Cebu, Duma, or Davao?

    Tks

    Christian

you got any Filipino friends now in your locality, they could send them as balikbayan boxes, but staggered not all at once (balikbayan box, is a sort of subsidized mail system for overseas to send Filipinos ) seriously cheap compared to private companies, only works to the Philippines, not from the Philippines

Are you intending to apply for SRRV? If so you can import all your household effects duty free in the 6 months after issue of the SRRV.

Sorry to be so late in getting back here ....

BB box is out of the question: nearest outlet is over 3000 km away as the seagull flies. And many of my items are way too big for a BBBox.

Perhaps one can import stuff while still a "visitor"? I have nooooo idea. My main option is perhaps going SRRV?

But I've never seen a vlog about anybody using the little perk of Duty Free import that comes with the SRR deal, so looks like all the other little perks of the SRRV which are of not much use?

As far as I know, the only way to import stuff duty free is under the SRRV dispensation. I don't have a record of the contact details, but if you can find the shipping agents 'Goetz - Manila' on the internet, they could advise you. They did an excellent job for my stuff 10 years ago.

    Chris,
I would seriously consider (even if you can manage to import duty free) to limit whatever you wish to bring with you to stuff that will fit in a couple balikbayan boxes (land transport shouldn't be all that expensive for a couple fair sized boxes even over 3000 km), and save yourself the (at least) 6,000 US$ for a container.
Most household stuff and furniture can be bought here pretty cheaply, and things like books will fit in balikbayan boxes.
Before I moved here I sold/donated most of my stuff and I never had any regrets about it.

    Thanks guys!

Guess what? After 38 months the next door Cassidy International Airport [CXI] finally got its first commercial flight 3.5 weeks ago -got to be some sort of Guinness World Record, no? The last flight had been 20200317, before this island was cast adrift so to speak.

Finally even saw my first lettuce! Were they out there all along? Amaazzzing! Quickly grabbed a pair -how wonderful!!! Just $13 ea... AND that was Oz pesos!

So I am no longer under "Atoll Arrest" so to speak, and can resurrect my April 20twenty dream of visiting ph once again. Need to do the crates for real first, and still have no clue how and how much to inventory them, just to meet ph importing Customs. Specific spreadsheet for "Removal personal effects" perhaps?

Am still looking for a Broker who has actually cleared a few pallets under the SRRV conditions. Surely there has to be a couple of them out there? I'd think SRRV experience would help?

Thanks, and plenty of Happy New Years in ph to everyone.

    Chris

    Congratulations!

I visited Kiribati about 20 years ago on a Hawaiian cruise. This was necessary because of some regulation about cruises sailing from the US needing to visit a foreign port. I couldn't imagine being stuck there for 3+ years. Did the cruise ships stop visiting, too?
