INVITING MY SO TO MY HOME COUNTRY UK

I have made the decision to invite my SO over to UK we have a son together and it goes without saying he will join her and perhaps the No1 reason for doing this?
At this present time I have done no research on this matter, I guess we will have to jump through a few hoops to achieve our objective one fly in the ointment being she is already married to another, however this matter is in hand by a Lawyer in her family and I'm hopeful this will be finalised in the very near future?

Has anyone here done this same thing already and if so what are the obstacles we have to get around?

All you (your partner) need to do is document (truthfully) very carefully and extensively the (visitor/tourist) visa application that your partner will have to do.
Hopefully she's confident enough to travel to Manila to make the application.
If you can, file sponsor documentation in the UK, then send that over to your partner in the Philippines (to include with her visa application). That should make the risk of a denied visa much smaller (as in: close to zero).
Try to download the visa application forms from the British embassy, and the sponsor forms from the Foreign affairs department.
I have done a very similar thing twice now, for my partner and (step)daughter to visit the European Schengen area, it really boils down to:
a. convincing the embassy in Manilla that your partner will return to the Philippines after visiting (your sponsoring and proof of the owned house and proof of the son being enrolled in school will help with that).
b. documenting your relationship (photos, birth certificate of your son, etc.)

 

I fully agree with @ dutchie. Most important thing is to show as many facts as possible that she will return to the Philippines after her visit.

In my opinion it could turn out as an advantage that she had married again, what will certainly give her a valid reason to return.

If she owns a property here, got a good job or is running a business, it all helps. Maybe she got another child with her new husband. Helps as well.

In my experience the embassy can grant a visa or not. There is no guarantee and you never know how they decide in their wisdom. Just try it and provide as many documents and facts as possible to show that she has many reasons to return.

And then start praying. Sometimes it helps.

 

When you say invite over do you mean a visitor visa or a permanent visa/citizenship arrangement?

 

The personal appearance when applying for a visa can be done at Cebu.

 

Hi Dutchie and thanks to both you and Stefan for your input, there may be some misunderstanding here it is my intention to bring the family over to live here in Scotland permanently and not just a flying visit? are you trying to suggest this would be unlikely? also I do believe there may be a British Embassy satellite office in Cebu there was one at one time? I did understand indeed your family will come to Scotland for a few weeks only on a tourist visa.

Hence this is not the case you can truly disregard my previous posting.

Yes Dave, I did assume it was only meant to be a visit.
For more information on applying for a Family Visa (for intended residency) go to the relevant UK government website here .
It is not an easy or fast procedure, they (the UK government) will make you jump through a bunch of procedural hoops.
The most difficult hoop (seems to me) is that your partner is still married to another man.
It seems to me though, that (all of the following will require acceptable proof)

• if your income is sufficient to support the three of you in the UK (according to the rules),
• having a child together,
• having lived together for a long time and
• having returned to the UK for valid medical reasons while
• still supporting your partner financially

then you (your partner) will stand a good chance of being approved.

 

At the moment my partner Marissa has her case pending for annulment although this generally takes quite a while to process it just so happens it is being dealt with by a Lawyer who is her family member by marriage and this is his speciality, I think this will be accomplished within the next 6 months and maybe we gain another brownie point if she is then termed as single?
