Well, what you need is a forwarder who has agent in cebu. The port of discharge of your cargo must be in cebu. To tell you honestly customs clearing of 1x20 container in cebu is around 40k not including almost 10k shipping destination charges. Plus the expenses in sending it to your place from cebu.... you need an additional of 40k. for your freight from los angeles to cebu it would not go beyond us$ 2000. If you like I can send a qoutation for your shipment just tell me the exact place of pickup in the US the exact place of delivery in the philippines. Should you need any assistance I am very willing to help you. my email add is anthony@gaacbrokerage.com.

Ahhhh, Anthony! Where were you a year ago, when I needed just that assistance?

As you correctly point out, the trick is in routing the shipment so that the customs clearance might be accomplished as close to (your) destination as possible. For Dumaguete that is the Port of Cebu and NOT the Port of Manila!

If I were you , Sell the whole lot and buy brand new stuffs in philippines. Things in Philippines are pretty cheap compare to your standard in US.

I am Filipino , living abroad now with my partner here in Vanuatu. And we have a terrible experience about shipping stuffs from US. My partner bought a plane from there and it supposed to be arrive last January . guess what? The plane doesn't arrive until now? The shipping was been delayed many times because they thrown the stuffs in inside and not being packed properly . So we paid another 6,000 USD to repack it. We already paid the plane so it's ours. But now this guy in US talking about selling the plane to somebody else. So he got the money and the plane. But my partner is smart enough to deal with this. Though it's a real pain in the arse!

I'm just telling you our experienced. I know it's not about shipping to Philippines . But hey it's from US.. when it goes wrong you'll be paying double as the costs to ship it.or even more.

My suggestion is to sell all your stuffs in US and rock on!

    Old thread of course, but....
Am I reading there was NO Broker lined up and involved from B4 the shipping moment? One of them in CEB volunteered AFTER arrival.... and turned out to do a FAIR deal???

    WHO was this?

Are CEB Customs still OK/FAIR, by this year 2022 ?

    Tks for update!

    Christian

Sorry.... but shipping assets here divided by that cost of shipping means your sitting on a sofa or in a chair that is 4 times the cost of buying it here in Philippines. I studied this long and hard over years. If a person can and has the will.......just liquidate 100%.. get here and re-buy. May not be the best advice for you, but is great advice to a retiree that wants to call Philippines home. Clearly the decision is up to the individual and as the OP stated... it worked out well for him to ship a container. Could have turned out worse if customs wanted to root through it all.

Just putting it out there that liquidating was the best solution for me when retiring here. Your flag on profile is USA and that's about the best place to sell a tool collection. Most tools will be rusted out after a year here and power tools need power conversion adapters. When I was back in the West I owned 2 Mustang Cars. I so wanted to get one here but it would have cost (I was quoted 160,00P) Not worth the stress or hassle. Selling all abroad gives yah all the more here.

I have a pretty large set of battery powered tools and they are pretty powerful these days so only need one adapter.
