Rather than a full container purchase you can concider sending tools and smaller items via LBC box.
Hopefully there is an LBC or affiliate near you. We sent some items in advance and other boxes were with family for when we were ready.
LBC picked the boxes from the house there and delivers to our doorsteps here.
100 lbs (more or less) for 110 or 120 USD -as long as it fits.
I gree with selling or giving away everything else.

We sent our stuff with Balikbayan boxs. 11 jumbo boxes cost 800 GBP the big stuff like sofa, beds, we gave it to charity.

SEEBEE, i tend to agree with Nicey. US appliances are worthless (120v), not even 240v, too complicated to deal with constant electric outage/ fluctuations.. Dump the furniture, definitely the TV's unless they are 240v, definitely bring the bikes, have a store break them into shipping boxes..

When we retired from the US in 2016, we "de-accessed" 95% of our junk, most clothes, all furniture, all art (we enjoyed it for decades), books, tax writeoff on donations, auction, garagesale... Dumped two cars, bought one here. Sent 5 boxes by Forex, could have used LBC. If you need a 20 footer, you are bringing way too much crap <grin>

We moved into furnished rented a short while before moving here and obtained some additional furniture and other items (e.g. garden mower) via eBay and Freecycle. Freecycle items were, as it says on the tin, totally free and the eBay items were sometimes not selling and the seller contacted me and said you can have it for nowt! So when we left, we sent about 9 BB boxes (at c. £1000) and gave away most of the free furniture we had acquired - plus left some of the 'best' bits in the house (the landlord was okay with that).

As others here experienced, I left behind some items I wish I had brought (e.g. my wife.... no, only joking!) and brought a few I wish I had left behind (like a sun lamp!) - not going to repeat the wife 'joke' as she is now standing behind me!
