I know that it's a well known fact that many Filipinos' spend their days in the shopping malls just to stay cool and avoid the Hot weather because they cannot afford the cost of keeping cool in their own homes. But an article I just read speaks of the opening up of "Warm Banks" here in UK due to the high cost of energy this winter, with the situation in Ukraine, affecting the price of Gas in Europe. It has been suggested that some buildings to be open to the general public to gain access for keeping warm during the winter cold spell.
Not a bad idea really. May go along way to strengthen community bonds. When I was last in UK..... One can walk in London for a week and not get a "hello" from any sort. We are too divided and each Dog to their own Mentality! Another reason I love the Philippines. You can strike up a conversation with about anyone without being told to "F*#K o*F.
I don't see how that is going to work? all the Banks are shutting down, the nearest branch to me of my own Bank is 20mls away?
The elderly in the UK use their free bus passes sometimes in cold weather, just to stay warm for free. At least, they do in Scotland, and it's mostly pretty cold there in the winter.
I wonder if that includes the below basement level old Coal storage room in which they converted into a Nuclear bomb shelter back in the 60's.
I guess that's for family members only Pity I took the fireplaces out years ago, lots of people will resort to burning wood and coal this winter for sure.
Hard to believe that but it's unfortunately true while the new British prime minister has difficult decisions to make...
