    Not sure about it.

I assume your number has been registered in UK. Hence your personal details have been allocated to your number and whereever this number will be in use they know who is behind it. It's all about that.

That's just my thinking. Don't take it for granted.

I have a number of phones from the UK for different businesses, some not required to be active 24/7. Any data as much as possible belongs to me and only me, why would this be otherwise as in any government.

Any registration process will not stop the really "bad guys", that's laughable. Might prove inconvenient for a few low hanging idiots who would no doubt get caught regardless.

    As said previously slippery slope.

Speaking of data and moving slightly off subject for some perhaps....

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/dec/14/us-senate-ban-tiktok-government-owned-devices?

Senate votes to ban TikTok on US government-owned devices - and about time as well.

By stealth bit by bit like an organised army of ants the Chinese will know more about you than you do. TikTok renforces the short cannot concentrate for more than 30 seconds generation who are easily led anywhere, to quote Dune “He who controls the spice, controls the universe.”

The government here should do the same, but also ban TikTok in the workplace completely. Productivity would increase by 50%.

Short term perhaps. But to keep employed proles happy a dimdum mind definitely has it's benefits long term.

FB being the original free data government IMO collecting source.

Of note: DARPA LifeLog. According to its bid solicitation pamphlet in 2003, FB started 2004.

So millions of sim cards to be registered within 6 months of Dec 27th.

This is the Philippines - so what could go wrong?

Some people finding after registration that their sim cards get cut off is one guess.

Don't fix something that's not broken comes to mind. Still be entertaining watching it all unfold.

Projected costs of collecting all this data as clearly it won't be admin free.

I see one of the requirements for registration if you have a tourist visa is proof of return ticket, they just don't know when to stop.....
