Simple maths problem most people get wrong (Don't overthink it)

Is there a catch?........$130 in money and $70 in goods.

 

Three guys walk in a snackbar, the waiter charges them $30, the manager says to the waiter you have charged them too much, and gives him the $5 refund.
The waiter decides to give them a $1 each back and put $2 in his own pocket. 3x9 = 27 + 2 in his pocket, where did the other $1 go?

 

No.... putting it bluntly IMO.

 

$100...

 

Just the $100. Anything that happened after the theft was an ordinary transaction.

 

I thought I was savvy so please explain..... $100 goes out the till, the guy buy's $70 of goods with the stolen money and gets $30 given to him in change.= $70 in goods + $30 in cash right?......=$100?
Still working it out......what about the snackbar?

 

But he doesn't have $130 dollars....he gave back net $70. What he's ended up with is $30 and $70 worth of goods.

 

I think we agree on that one.
