Climate change I think you all will agree, is staring us in the face.
With tempertures hitting record high's around the world and the effects of wild fires
spreading in a number of countries at the present time.
However yet again we are reminded of disasters happening around our shores.
On Sunday in Scotland was a tragic scene when a pod of Pilot Whales were beached
left stranded and died, in all around 55 in number.
We are left guessing as to what is causing these tragedies to occur, be it pollution or other factors, or are we living on a dieing planet.
Just yet another thought for today. JB

    I don't know.
As sad as it is it is hardly a new phenomena. Whales have been beaching for millions of years, so not convinced it has anything to do with climate change.

While I agree Whales are known to beach for a number of reasons, the theroy behind the Scottish episode this last weekend being a Mothering birth, apparently in distress was surrounded by the pod who all went into shallow water.
But we are hearing more about the effects of rising sea temperatures also, there could well be a connection to other happenings.

Global warming, there is the one view, no such a thing and the other view it's real. Well we know we had an ice age and 365 million years ago was the age of fire that left a layer of charcoal on most continents. The Earth and atmosphere is not a constant, So if one kicks aside Global warming, they are there fore adopting a Global cooling belief. On the other hand these faker fear Mongers that the sky is falling analogy and Tax everyone crying out "Global warming" or we all die in 100 years or 150 years is ridiculous!

The Canadian government believes a carbon tax will fix the problem.
Trading Carbon Credit is now a business .
When I worked in pulp and paper there were strict levels for the concentrations of some waste discharge. If the levels were too high they just added more river water to the discharge. Apparently "dilution is the solution ".
I don't think a solution that works will be found.
City dwellers seem to think getting air conditioning for their house is a solution. When veggies won't grow maybe people will give climate change a bit more thought.

It's getting pretty hot in Europe right now!
My niece in Athens tells me yesterday it was 45c and that's without the fires raging on Greek Islands.
I doubt any of us will be around in 100-150 years time......Holy Moses, mine you he lived to be over a 100 according to the good book

No, we won't all die, but in some places a lot of people will either die or move somewhere else. When droughts get even more serious than they already are, and when there's no options to irrigate, people will start migrating in ever larger numbers, and to be fair, who can blame them.
Everywhere where subsistence farming is still the mainstay economic activity people won't have a choice when climate change causes crops to no longer grow, and domestic animals die in droves. Future wars over the available water will only serve to make things worse. Egypt/Sudan vs Ethiopia is already a powderkeg in that respect.
So yeah, 50 years from now (it won't even take a 100) migration won't be a minor issue anymore. You wouldn't say it's still a minor issue today if you follow politics, but you ain't seen nothing yet.
Moreover, desertification in Spain and elsewhere is well underway already.
And further ahead, maps will start looking very different from today. Melting polar icecaps will see to that. Luckily the last climate change deniers will die long before that happens.
It is very questionable though whether the next few generations will find a solution to the mess we are leaving them with.
The problem might well be that we already passed a tipping point, where further heating up beyond 3 degrees Celsius becomes unavoidable.
