According to the Global Peace Index......it's ICELAND Don't forget your hot water bottle and an extra blanket. New Zealand ranks up there too, along with the Nordic Countries also. So while the Christmas decorations are displayed, spare a thought for people living in some of the "Hot Spot's" around the world, who won't feel like celebrating anything. ( other than clean water to drink )....Peace on Earth to men of good will.
The Global Index is compiled by whom ? According to my experience Singapore, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Kuwait and Riyadh are very safe places. I felt extremely safe living in these cities and had a good time there.
In terms of safety I did not notice any difference between Dubai and the other places. Same. Maybe it is due to the reason that all of these countries have pretty strict rules and laws in place. And if you are nit following the rules they are not joking around. I like that.
The Icelanders.......( Joke ) All the information is available at the Website, the Global Peace Index
Iceland is an amazing place in many ways. It is hardly ever cold indoors since most heating comes from distributed hot spring water. The Icelanders are more or less self-sufficient on tomatoes and bananas for the same reason. None of the fruits require much UV or daylight but need a warm environment and are fine with other light sources. Now and a few months ahead there are not much daylight. Regarding crime rates, island states seem always to have a low rate there. When I lived in Malta it was amongst the lowest in the world. Phuket had the lowest rate in Thailand and here in Gran Canaria it has the lowest for Spain...I guess it is harder to escape the law when you are surrounded by water....
I would suggest many parts of Scotland have a lower crime rate than the national average, I know car insurance for me in my postcode is a lot less than I would pay in many parts of England? Another thing I have noticed is many crimes south of the border are committed by people of a darker skin complexion with the likes of staged car crashes being not so prevalent here, often the perpetrators are of ethic origins and the same can be said for many other types of crime. The town in which I live has around 50K of a population, likely it would not be safe to wander around at 2am in the morning but other than that it is fairly safe. This is not just an opinion of my own I have heard this from quite a few English white Settlers than have moved up here to live. Many retirees from south of the border sell up and come to live in Scotland the proceeds of their house sale could buy a similar house up here at half the price especially if they have lived near a big city, added to that they get the benefit of having a Scotsman as a neighbour.
