Message for U.S. Citizens: Remote Services in Dumaguete on February 8, 2024



The U.S. Embassy’s American Citizens Services (ACS) Unit and Representatives from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will visit Dumaguete, Philippines on February 8, 2024, to provide remote services to U.S. Citizens. The services include:



American Citizens Services (ACS)

• Notarial services
• Acceptance of Consular Report of Birth Abroad (CRBA) applications, and
• Acceptance of U.S. passport applications

VA Manila Regional Office

Business Office Team:



· Registration/Enrollment with OPC

· Scheduling of clinical appointments with OPC

· Information and assistance on the Foreign Medical Program

· My HealtheVet Assistance

· VHIC ID Application



Nursing Team:



· Provide preventive immunizations

· Updating vital signs, height and weight record

· Assessing patient’s condition and medical need

· Patient education on healthy lifestyle habits



Suicide Prevention Coordinators:



· Provide Suicide Prevention awareness.

· Veteran Crisis Line information

· Distribute gift items from Suicide Prevention Program Assessment of Mental Health appointment need

 

Where is Remote Services on Feb 8th to be held?

 

I went to one here in Feb. 2019. It was held at a hotel near the mall on the road to old bridge.

 

FYI Remote Services on Feb 8, 2024 will be held at Ground Zero Restaurant, San Juan St. DGT

 

8-11 am. Registration 7;30am

 

Turns out the event is a real cluster f**k, don't know how else to call it. About 250 people in a small area, when I got there at 7:20, mixed in with diners trying to order breakfast. An apparent number system was used with no explanation how to get one. I heard there were already about 50 people waiting at 5;30. Last time they held this in Dumguete, about 25 people when I was there.
So I left, got a Starbucks went home and will handle my VA issues on the phone to Manila.

 

Did any members attend the meeting?

 

Nope because I expected it to be just as you described.

 

What amazes me this year there was no social security rep, as there was in 2019 when no more than 40 people were there when I was. So the large crowd were perhaps there for VA or visa issues.
