But of we keep thinking like this it will become like we had back home! Why did we move here? It was because of the bull sh*t and red tape amongst other crap!
If it becomes like our world back home we just as well be back there.
Yes there are things we could improve here without all the western bullshit!

Main Problem as I see it is we should STOP thinking about what OUR country was/is like and concentrate with what we have to work with.
There is a lot out there that can be done but we have to start thinking here, how can we utilize things. Improve and educate others.

Hey maybe make the boulevard only pedestrian, that would go a long way, it would be nice to eat a peaceful meal whilst not shouting at each other and breathing in fumes! They been talking about it for years.

I would like to see traffic laws enforced and make the boulevard a pedestrian precinct from 6pm Friday evening till 2am Sunday morning , so that we could have an alfresco cafe style experience.

I would like to see Dumaguete 20 years ago, where everything was less…I heard plenty of stories how the locals and expats enjoy the life back then.

    Now for reality and going towards the future its gonna be more population means more demand of everything...! In 5-10 years( I will be 50years old);

1.) First,I would like a reliable hospital like St.Lukes or Chungwa cebu with sexy nurse for male patient and handsome nurse for females.:cool::cool:

    2.) A traffic lights ..

3.) A bridge connecting Sibulan coast to South Cebu and bridge to East Cebu to Bohol and bridge to Dumaguete to Siquijor.

4.) A city Nature Park about a hectare or 2 where I can picnic, bike and meet my date.

5.) A nice indoor seafood market restaurant where I can buy/select fresh veg, herbs and seafoods and the chef will cook it according to my liking. Restaurant set-up/lay-out should be middle class market no plastic chair please..

6.) A very nice authentic thai restaurant.

7.) Another Why hot disco bar inferno with of course pretty girls and more young guys please…:cigar::cigar::cigar:

8.) Sn R!, because my husband loves shopping at SnR…I don’t like malls and I hate shopping so I’m happy with Robinson’s.

9.) Abolish all the vintage (20-30 years old) transport, eliminate shabu drivers and mandatory scooter motorcycle with helmets for the new buyers if possible,of course no rocket exhaust pipe! and less trikes and implement new easyride public transport with stop station.

10.) Very important!! More super micro skirts for the girls and deeper plunging neck line of her shirts..:wink:

Slightly off topic I know but again the mentality here sometimes mystifies!

Ford motors built a plant in palawan some years back which would employ around 7000 workers. Ford imported 4-5 f140 pickups to use just onsite between buildings.
They got to Manila customs and got stuck due to import tax which was huge so ford would not pay, when a ford employee went to Manila to check the status of the pickups all the wheels were gone along with all the chrome parts.
That was the final straw ford shut the gates and never opened, no one ever cared if it opened anyway.
I think mitsubishi bought the site in the end.
Another example was dhl who were here for quite a while, they had the same problems and moved to China. It's not just Dumaguete that needs to update its way of thinking it's all over the country.
If they want foreign investment here and better infastructure they need to start thinking like a first world country.

i'd like to see a duma by-pass road with small shopping centers with parking and stores with isles wide enuf that a person can turn around without knocking something off of the shelf or tripping over the merchandise on the floor.

the port bound cargo trucks could enter the port area from the north and avoid the boulevard and the congested roads leading to it.

either the above or level downtown and start over with modern city planning.

    mis dos centavos...

Dave, to your point, transformers are needed here to keep your voltage constant. I would like to see our electric costs reduced.
